Vekić, ranked 24th, showcased her ability to take the ball early. Her summer surge continued, and she pushed Zheng to the limit. Unfortunately, a poorly executed drop shot at 3-2, 30-all in the third set proved costly for Vekić. Despite the missed opportunity, her performance was outstanding.

In the quarterfinals, Zheng will face World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, setting up a rematch of this year’s Australian Open final.
