Emmy Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin indicted
The Grand Jury of New Mexico indicted Emmy Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin for the involuntary killing of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. Previous charges against him were dropped in April last year. Local prosecutors shared some additional facts from the forensic tests on the weapon used. He was practicing for the film scene by firing with a Colt .45 pistol for the scene of Rust, an upcoming Western film shot near Santa Fe, in October 2021.
The actor said that he did not pull the trigger and only pulled the hammer but the weapon probably malfunctioned. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was responsible for providing weapons and ammunition for the film. She faces her manslaughter charge, as well as a charge of evidence tampering.
March for Life
Despite facing a large snowstorm thousands of people attended the March for Life, the nation’s largest anti-abortion rally in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 19. Anti-abortion campaigners walked through the snowy National Mall to the U.S. Supreme Court building to bring more visibility to their cause. Many demonstrators say their work is not over despite the Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2021, which gave the right to an abortion in the United States. As per the recent Gallup poll, the majority of people think that abortion should be legal throughout the first three months of pregnancy.
Melania Trump’s ray of light eulogy
Melania Trump, with Donal Trump, delivered an emotional eulogy at a private funeral of her mother, Amalija Knavs in Florida. The former first lady announced the death of her mother at the age of 78 earlier this month. Melania’s eulogy remembering her mother reads- “a ray of light in the darkest of days“.Former President Donald Trump skipped a court session to attend the funeral.
“In her presence, the world seemed to shimmer with radiance and joy,” Ms Trump said during a eulogy. “Our bond was unbreakable.”
